Genius is nothing but great effort applied. – Awa Kenzo

Why must you Twitter spam?!

Seriously? Have you no life? Do you have to effin’ tweet every 2 minutes?

I’m not even talking about the real Twitter spammers. You know; the ones offering coupons, self-help solutions, or a way for you make $30 million a year working twitter-spampart-time from home. No. I’m talking about regular people, whom I follow because they are important to my line of work.

Honestly, I don’t have time to click all your links – I don’t care about your stoopid bumper sticker or the pretty fountain you saw on your nature hike!!!

TweetDeck is going off every other minute with useless information…I have ADHD and it’s hard enough to get work done with out all these distractions! Do you know how exhausting it is to sift through the crap to find the gold???

Yes, I know, I can change the update time, but I don’t want to miss a job opportunity by not being first to respond.

Screw it, I’m just going to unfollow you.

I totally agree, it’s extremely annoying. The worst person I know of with this is Jason Bradbury the gadget Show (UK TV show) host: http://twitter.com/JasonBradbury
The guy tweets 5-10 times an hours while awake, it’s silly. One guy I follow, who runs a website and co-hosts a podcast, was using his twitter to comment on the podcast while podcasting, as a first-time experiment. When I went on Twitter it was full of his random comments that not only spoiled the podcast for those that didn’t listen live, but was totally irrelevant for everyone who doesn’t listen at all and completely spammed down my twitter timeline. I don’t get why peopl eneed to share every.single.comment :/ That’s the reason I always end up unfollowing a whole bunch and dropping down to about 20 people I follow after trying to expand.

I’ve been having these same thoughts lately (and I confess to having used Twitter as a poor man’s IM client). One solution I’ve found in TweetDeck is to create a new group with the people whose tweets I really want to follow included. The other, as you’ve indicated, is a bunch of unfollows.

BTW, thanks for the quick response re: Integrating Intense Debate into Thesis. It’s really strange there are so very few (and none that are updated regularly) threaded comment plugins for WordPress. Definitely going to give ID a hard look.

    • Thanks for the comment. I loved Intense Debate! I had it on this website, but since I only get like a handful of comments each month decided to just use the standard WP comment system.

See you on Twitter – and I promise not to spam you :D
